Are garden machinery bearings prone to failure or damage during long-term use?

Update:12 Feb

Garden machinery bearings may indeed fail or be damaged during long-term use, especially in harsh working environments, heavy loads or improper maintenance. Since garden machinery usually operates in dusty, humid or chemically corrosive environments, the use conditions faced by bearings are far more stringent than those of general machinery. These factors can easily lead to early wear or failure of bearings.
Garden machinery bearings often need to bear large loads, especially some heavy garden equipment such as lawn mowers, garden tractors, etc. The bearings of these equipment need to withstand frequent high-pressure operation and vibration. In the long run, the continuous action of the load may cause the bearings to wear more. When the rolling elements and cages inside the bearings are worn, the running accuracy and stability of the bearings will be affected, resulting in noise, vibration and even jamming, which will eventually lead to equipment failure.
Garden machinery is often exposed to wet, muddy or chemical environments during use. The entry of impurities such as moisture and sediment will destroy the lubricating oil film inside the bearing, resulting in increased friction on the bearing surface and accelerated wear. The accumulation of these external substances may also cause corrosion of the bearings, especially when exposed to high humidity for a long time, bearings with poor corrosion resistance are very easy to rust, further damaging their functions.
The sealing of the bearing is also an important factor affecting its durability. If the sealing design is unreasonable, moisture, dust and impurities can easily penetrate into the bearing, causing the loss of lubricant, increasing friction and aggravating the wear of the bearing. Even if the sealing design is relatively tight, long-term workload and frequent temperature changes will cause the aging of the sealing material, thereby reducing the protection ability of the bearing and ultimately affecting its normal operation.
Improper lubrication is also one of the main reasons for the damage of garden machinery bearings. Since garden machinery is mostly operated outdoors, its bearings are often affected by extreme high or low temperatures. If the lubricant is not selected properly or added in time, the lubrication will be insufficient, thereby increasing friction, causing the bearing to overheat or even burn. Therefore, regular inspection and replacement of lubricants are key steps to extend the service life of bearings.
